POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Financial Analyst plays a critical role in supporting strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, M&A, and performance analysis.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business leaders in the development of annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
- Support M&A and ad hoc analysis for executive management.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for executive leadership.
- Analyze financial performance against key metrics and provide actionable insights.
- Build and maintain complex financial models to support capital investment decisions, rate case filings, and regulatory submissions.
- Evaluate the financial impact of strategic initiatives, including infrastructure projects, M&A activity, and regulatory changes.
- Monitor and analyze cost drivers, revenue trends, and margin performance across business units.
- Support rate design and cost-of-service studies in collaboration with regulatory and operations teams.
- Provide financial guidance for project planning, asset management, and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in preparing financial documentation for audits and regulatory filings.
- Prepare presentations for executives, investors, banks, and board of directors.
- Present financial materials and analyses to senior management and other stakeholders, identifying financial risk and developing mitigation strategies.
- Serve as a resource to resolve issues and provide training on financial principles
Supervisory Responsibilities
The team member in this role will:
- Serve as an Individual Contributor without supervisory responsibilities.
- Support and contribute towards team goals and objectives.
- Strong understanding of utility finance, rate structures, and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial management and analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem assessment, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) financial software (Onestream), and BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Ability to exercise independent judgement and decision-making.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
- At least six (6) years of experience in financial analysis, preferably in the energy or utilities sector.
