Summary Of Purpose:
Leads monitoring, evaluation, and assistance activities for nuclear power stations in fire protection functional area while interacting with utility personnel, WANO-AC management, and industry professional groups.
Essential Functions
•Lead fire protection teams in emergency management performance evaluations (in conjunction with WANO-AC peer reviews)
•Cross-qualify in emergency preparedness
•Participate as a lead Emergency Management evaluator on WANO peer reviews focusing on fire protection
•Represent WANO-AC fire protection-related issues, including:
+ WANO-AC-led industry meetings, including the fire protection advisory committee
+ during the establishment of/or changes to industry standards
+ WANO-AC and other industry working groups
•Participate in periodic Industry Response Center (IRC) drills
•Periodically serve as a member of WANO-AC emergency duty teams
•Observe FLEX drills and participate in National SAFER Response Center assessments
•Performs other duties as assigned

•In depth, detailed knowledge of functional area
•In depth, comprehensive knowledge of the nuclear utility industry
•Advanced proficiency in solving complex and multifaceted problems using data, trend, and analysis to inform decision making
•Advanced ability to use research, analysis, and stakeholder feedback to influence and execute strategies while remaining up to date with industry regulations and compliance standards
•High levels of communication skills to convey complex ideas and strategies in a clear and compelling manner

•Advanced knowledge of INPO/WANO policies, practices and procedures
•Advanced knowledge of nuclear fire protection system design and operation
•Advanced knowledge of firefighting methods and techniques
•Advanced knowledge of combustible transient requirements
•Working knowledge of NFPA codes, fire hazard analysis, fire modeling, and / or compliance with nuclear fire protection regulations
Education, Licenses, and Certifications
Required
•High School Diploma or GED
Preferred
•Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) certification
•Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, physical science or other related area
Experience
Required
•Six or more years of professional work experience,
•Four or more years of experience in relevant specialty area
•Two years of supervisory or equivalent experience
•Performed function as fire marshal, fire engineer, or overseeing fire programs
Preferred
•Five or more years of nuclear plant experience
•Two years of INPO/WANO evaluation experience
•Two years of manager or equivalent experience
•Supervisory experience as fire marshal, fire engineer, or overseeing fire programs
•Fire drill design and control
•Experience in engineering or operations
•Experience as part of a site fire brigade
•Fire risk modeling (Fire PRA)

Work Context
•Must be able to work prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
•Must be able to work under minimal supervision
•Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and crawl
•Must be able to lift 25 pounds
•Must be able to travel domestically or internationally by plane or car
•Must have a US state or territory issued Real ID compliant driver’s license or identification card
