Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) invites candidates for Senior Project Engineer - Studies position. A successful candidate must have a PhD/master’s degree or equivalent experience and exposure into power systems. You should have experience with studies tools like PSSE, DigSILENT, MATLAB, PSCAD or RTDS and, have expertise knowledge in design verification studies like power system optimization, power system dynamic stability studies, and Grid interconnection studies for renewable power plants. As a Senior Power System Studies Engineer, a typical day might include the following: Conducting linear and nonlinear optimization techniques for solving power flow problems. Conducting steady state and dynamic simulations to analyze the stability. Assessing the feasibility and impact of connecting new generation sources (e.g., renewable energy) to the existing grid. Designing HIL setups to test and validate control systems and protection schemes in a simulated environment. Analyzing test results to identify and resolve potential issues before deployment in the field. Staying updated with the latest advancements in power system technologies and methodologies. Ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices. Mentor and develop professional staff. Model, teach, and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles. Understand. Create. Simplify. Other duties as assigned. This job might be for you if: Can demonstrated a deep understanding of electric power system optimization and control. Can demonstrated knowledge of electric power system steady state and dynamics, Hardware In The Loop (HIL).
