We are looking for an AI/ML Engineer specializing in Agentic Operations to join our Data & Analytics team. As the founding AI engineer you will architect and implement LLM-based automation systems for our data center energy management platform. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in generative AI, multi-agent systems, and advanced prompt engineering. They will work closely with product management and engineering teams to build intelligent workflows that automate complex operational procedures. This position will be based remotely and requires someone who can translate cutting-edge AI capabilities into production-ready solutions for critical infrastructure management.
- Design and implement multi-agent LLM workflows using Azure AI Foundry for automated SOP execution and intelligent decision-making
- Develop sophisticated prompt engineering strategies and chains for complex reasoning tasks in power management scenarios
- Build and optimize RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines integrating operational documentation, historical telemetry, and real-time data
- Implement AI tool use patterns and function calling for LLMs to interact with SCADA systems, APIs, and operational databases
- Create Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations to enable LLMs to access and manipulate infrastructure configuration safely
- Develop evaluation frameworks and guardrails for AI agents operating in critical infrastructure environments
- Collaborate with the Technical PM to translate operational requirements into agentic system architectures
- Establish best practices for prompt versioning, testing, and deployment in production environments
- Build demonstration prototypes and proof-of-concepts for advanced agentic capabilities
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years focused on AI/ML systems- Extensive hands-on experience with LLMs (GPT-4, Claude, Llama, etc.) and prompt engineering techniques
- Proven experience building production RAG systems including vector databases, embedding strategies, and retrieval optimization
- Deep understanding of AI tool use, function calling, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) implementations
- Proficiency in Python and AI/ML frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or similar)
- Experience with multi-agent architectures and agent orchestration patterns
- Strong understanding of AI safety, hallucination mitigation, and reliability engineering for AI systems
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and establish technical direction as a founding team member
- Travel may be required up to 15%, depending on business needs
- Solar Industry experience (Renewable)
- Experience with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI Service, or Microsoft Semantic Kernel
- Knowledge of industrial automation, SCADA systems, or critical infrastructure operations
- Familiarity with time-series data, telemetry processing, and real-time systems
- Experience with knowledge graphs and semantic reasoning systems
- Understanding of formal verification or safety-critical systems
- Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects or research publications
- Experience with observability and monitoring for LLM applications
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance for AI systems in critical infrastructure
