SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Senior Emissions Advisor provides experienced and advanced professional environmental services to responsibly reduce air emissions and manage compliance with greenhouse gas and air pollutant regulations. This involves identifying improved industry practices and technologies, liaising with regulators and industry partners, and implementing emission reduction improvements throughout the corporation. The Senior Emissions Advisor is also responsible for leading collaborative efforts to achieve the target of reducing operational greenhouse gas emissions. This role requires thriving in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving regulatory environment while working collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders to drive change and meet environmental stewardship commitments.
Position Details* Non-union. This position is permanent full time.
Key Accountabilities* Provide technical expertise for the development and maintenance of environmental standards and procedures ensuring consistency in the interpretation of legislation and delivery of programs.
•Act as the Subject Matter Expert for calculation of greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions.
•Oversee management of corporate-wide emissions data in accordance with relevant regulations and best practices that establish quantification, verification, and record-keeping requirements.
•Lead the Corporation’s efforts to achieve emissions reduction, maintaining the capital roadmap and communicating status.
•Work with project resources to establish project plans, including scope, schedule and cost, and monitor project progress to completion.
•Develop and monitor performance of emissions Key Performance Indicators; create emissions trend analysis and forecasts.
•Monitor evolving provincial and federal climate change policy. Liaise with regulators, industry partners and other stakeholders to inform regulatory developments and adopt requirements.
•Translate technical requirements into work plans and communicate internally to drive understanding and adherence.
•Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities* Degree in Environmental/Natural Sciences or Engineering.
•A Registered Professional Designation and able to practice in Saskatchewan and/or a master’s degree would be considered assets.
•Experience in change and/or project management and related designation(s) would be considered assets.
•Minimum of eight (8) years of related and progressive experience.
•Ability to interpret technical regulatory requirements, create/implement compliance plans, and effectively communicate to various stakeholders to adopt new practices.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•Ability to work on a team while building and maintaining effective relationships.
•Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
Additional Information* Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters, is required on occasion.
•A Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
