Our client—an employee-owned environmental and engineering consulting firm—is seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist to manage air permitting and compliance projects for industrial, energy, and infrastructure clients. This role offers project variety, technical leadership opportunities, and a path for growth within a respected and expanding practice.
Key responsibilities for this role will include (but are not limited to):
•Lead development and submission of air construction and operating permit applications.
•Oversee compliance assessments, site inspections, and regulatory reviews.
•Provide technical expertise and mentor junior staff on air quality projects.
•Review emission calculations and ensure regulatory accuracy across all operational scenarios.
•Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and project schedules for permitting and compliance services.
•Maintain and grow relationships with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
•Support new business development through client engagement and pursuit strategies.
•Represent the team at meetings, conferences, and public hearings.
•Ensure compliance with safety standards and internal quality procedures.
Required and desired skillsets, experience, and qualifications for this role:
•Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
•7–8+ years of relevant experience in air permitting and environmental compliance.
•Strong understanding of air regulations including the Clean Air Act, PSD, NSR, and Title V.
•Proven ability to lead projects and coordinate teams.
•Experience with air dispersion modeling (AERMOD, CALPUFF, etc.) is a plus.
•Familiarity with ESG and sustainability considerations is a bonus.
•Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
•Consulting experience and client relationship management preferred.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
