About this opportunity:
We are seeking a Senior Data Analytics Analyst to join our Data Intelligence Team. Reporting to the Director of Applications and Data Intelligence, the successful candidate will have an education in Engineering or Computer/Data Science and have advanced data visualization tool experience (Power BI and Spotfire), programming skills (Python, SQL, and R), and experience with on-demand cloud computing platforms (AWS and Databricks). The Data Intelligence team is looking for a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment, and who will champion scalable reporting solutions, enhance data literacy, and advance the adoption of analytics at Paramount.
Job functions will involve:•Primary point of contact for all Power BI-related inquiries
•Provide hands-on support for Power BI dashboards and reports
•Inventory, assess, and rationalize our Power BI assets based on usage patterns, business need, and organizational value
•Identify, prioritize, and build Power BI assets to address evolving business requirements
•Administration, governance, and support for Power BI and Spotfire environments
•Design, build and develop new analytical tools (e.g. web apps)
•Develop data visualization standards and common processes.
•Help design and deliver upskilling programs for targeted business users and enable them to build reporting tools for their business units.
•Promote awareness and drive adoption of corporate reporting tools and Paramount’s modernized data store.
•Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) (e.g. data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders) to define reporting requirements and design, develop and maintain advanced, user-friendly, analytical tools and dashboards and sustainable data pipelines.
•Work with the Data Governance Committee to establish and promote data governance best practices and develop and manage an intake process for data asset requests, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
•Partner with business units (e.g. Operations, Drilling & Completions, Finance & Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Business Development and Corporate Planning, etc.) to support, enhance, and scale their self-serve reporting capabilities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
•Bachelors degree in Computer/Data Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other Engineering undergraduate program
•10+ Years of post-graduate Experience in Data Analytics / Data Science (data analytics in oil and gas preferred)
•Able to work effectively in a team environment – able to thrive in a work environment that promotes open discussions, idea-sharing, and teamwork
•Motivated, hard-working, strong attention to detail and driven to achieve superior results
•Effective decision-making skills and problem solver, curious and inquisitive with a strong obligation to accountability
•Advanced data visualization experience with Power BI, Databricks and Spotfire
•Intermediate to advanced skillset with Python, SQL, Pyspark, R, and DAX
•Strong business acumen and ability to translate business needs to technical solutions
•Experience with enterprise data warehouses, data governance, and modern data architecture (AWS, Databricks)
•Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
•Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional reporting initiatives and change management
•Oil and Gas background an asset
