The Senior Controller will plan and direct the Accounting Operations of the company.
· Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, bank reconciliations, payroll and collections.
· Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; maintains a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
· Prepares periodic financial reports including income statements and balance sheets for multiple entities under the same umbrella; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
· Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance and supports the business projection process.
· Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
· Works with external CPAs and provides needed information for the annual review.
· Works with President and Operations Manager to streamline operations and make recommendations for business procedure improvement and efficiencies.
· Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
· Works with President to identify opportunities for expansion into new product areas.
· Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
· Oversees investment of funds and works with President on acquisition opportunities in its core business or in complementing businesses to maximize investment value.
· Computes sales commissions for HVAC equipment sales.
· Oversees the procurement of petroleum products, managing fixed price programs and inventory
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent management and supervisory skills.
· Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred, MBA would be an asset.
· Ten years or more of related experience required.
· Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
