About this opportunity:
The Compression Optimization Engineer/Technologist plays a critical role in enhancing the performance and reliability of field compression assets across the Conventional business unit. This role will be responsible for the continuous surveillance, analysis, and optimization of compression systems for operational efficiency and throughput. Through collaboration with Field Operations and Production Engineering teams, this role will deliver detailed compressor performance curves and actionable insights to improve utilization and efficiency.
Work Environment:
- This position is located in Grande Prairie and requires the successful candidate to live in the area.
- This position will be based out of the Grande Prairie Field Office, however occasional travel to various field locations across the Conventional business unit may be required. This includes assets in the Clearwater, Edson and Rainbow Lake areas.
- Monitor and analyze compressor performance remotely using Cygnet and other platforms; perform scheduled health reviews, complete start/stop tasks, and log runtime data to identify optimization opportunities and detect potential failures.
- Conduct compressor curve analyses and simulations using OEM tools (e.g. Ariel, CAT), and generate performance reports and technical proposals to support optimization strategies.
- Review technical requests related to compressor performance from the Production Engineering, Field Operations, Integrated Operations Center (IOC), and Maintenance & Reliability teams.
- Coordinate with IOC desk personnel to optimize system throughput and asset utilization.
- Develop and refine alarm strategies to proactively reduce compressor failures; review shutdown events to support system reliability and maintenance planning.
- Support automation and instrumentation projects, and assess scheduled maintenance activities for potential impacts on compressor performance.
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Engineering Degree, Technologist Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 8 years of experience.
- Experience with compressor performance software.
- Experience with Cygnet is an asset.

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments
For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
