Job Description
The SR400 Express Lanes Project is a $4.6 billion Design-Build-Finance-Maintain (DBFM) infrastructure initiative delivered by SR400 Constructors, a joint venture between Flatiron Dragados and ACCIONA, under the leadership of the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and SRTA. With extensive public and stakeholder interest, the project requires a dedicated, skilled communicator to manage outreach, branding, media relations, and internal messaging efforts.
The Senior Communications Specialist is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing strategic communications and outreach programs that promote transparency, community engagement, and stakeholder confidence in the SR400 Express Lanes Project. This includes developing internal and external communications, media relations strategies, visual collateral, and digital content to support project objectives and ensure alignment with GDOT and partner messaging guidelines.
Required Skills And Competencies
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the creation and dissemination of content for public, media, and internal audiences regarding project updates, milestones, and key messages.
- Develop brochures, newsletters, press releases, fact sheets, infographics, and videos to explain technical project elements to the public.
- Support project proposal, milestone, or crisis communication needs with prepared messaging and visual materials.
- Act as liaison between SR400 Constructors and GDOT, SRTA, local governments, neighborhood associations, and the media.
- Coordinate public notifications regarding lane closures, construction activities, and emergency events.
- Develop and execute communications strategies for community outreach events, stakeholder briefings, and public meetings.
- Ensure consistent branding and design across all visual and written materials in line with corporate and project standards.
- Manage updates to internal and external websites; contribute to social media and digital storytelling.
- Prepare executive presentations and briefing materials for agency leadership and partner organizations.
- Monitor public perception and media coverage; provide media response drafts and key messaging points as needed.
- Ensure documentation of all communications activities and track engagement metrics to assess reach and effectiveness.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, or related field.
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in corporate, public affairs, or infrastructure-related communications.- Experience supporting DOT, P3, or federally funded infrastructure projects strongly preferred.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technical information into clear, engaging content.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint), SharePoint, and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Strong familiarity with AP style and digital content standards.
- Comfortable working independently in fast-paced environments with high public visibility.
