The Senior Assistant Project Manager is responsible for leading and supporting the Assistant Project Managers, with a strong focus on staffing, training, performance management, and departmental operations. This role plays a key part in developing and implementing standard operating procedures, onboarding programs, and cross-team coordination efforts. Additionally, the Senior Assistant Project Manager provides direct support to the Vice President of Project Management, supporting department-wide initiatives, training programs, and process improvements to enhance overall team effectiveness.
- Oversee the hiring process, employee performance evaluations, training, supervision, and terminations for the Assistant Project Managers.
- Assigns Assistant Project Managers to appropriate teams, duties, and projects based on workload and skill set to ensure balanced support across active projects.
- Manages onboarding and continuous training programs to support employee development and departmental consistency.
- Manages Project Management department timecard submissions, and processes time-off and out-of-office requests.
- Supports in the development, documentation, and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) across the department.
- Coordinates software updates and rollouts for department and company tools in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Project Management or department leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to perform each essential duty daily.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. A concentration in organizational leadership, management, or HR is highly desirable. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project coordination or assistant project management, preferably within the construction, engineering, or manufacturing industries.
- At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or team lead role, with demonstrated success in managing people, training, and departmental operations.
- Leadership and Team Management: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, delegate effectively, and maintain team alignment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally to various stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Proactive and solutions-oriented approach to addressing challenges and improving workflows.
- Project Coordination: Skilled in planning, organizing, and executing project support functions in collaboration with project managers and executive leadership.
- Training and Development: Ability to create and deliver effective training programs and onboarding processes.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable working with project management software, timekeeping systems, and office productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, SharePoint, ProjectSight, or similar).
- Discretion and Confidentiality: Maintains a high level of professionalism and discretion when dealing with sensitive personnel or project information.
