Security Support Specialist

Position Summary:

The Security Support Specialist follows established procedures and processes clearances for the American Centrifuge Operating (ACO) Program. This includes Centrus Energy Inc (Centrus), strategic partners, and subcontractors. The incumbent also performs badge and visitor control functions.

Job Responsibilities:

- Process clearance documents for Centrus, ACO Oak Ridge, ACO Piketon, Strategic Partners, and subcontractors

- May process and register Foreign Ownership and Control and Influence (FOCI) contracts submitted to the Department of Energy and Nuclear Regulatory Commission for Centrus, ACO, strategic partners and subcontractors

- Perform Badge and Visitor Control functions: access DOE database to verify clearance status, verify site-specific training, and issue badges to personnel accessing the site

- Verify clearance status and training restrictions for visitors

- Maintain records and documents regarding clearance status and visits. Maintain visitor control list for portal use

- Compile ACO clearance reports for Centrus and ACO Senior Management and submits other reports as requested

- May process security plans for uncleared individuals

- May conduct training and briefings for visitors and may process fingerprints for ACO employees and contractors for initial clearances

- Assist with reviews of Contract Security Classification Specifications (CSCS)

- Assist with security risk analysis as required

Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Position Requirements:

- Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” level security clearance.

Minimum Education

- High School diploma or GED

Minimum Experience

- One (1) year experience in an office environment managing highly sensitive information and basic computer operating skills including working knowledge of data base operations

- Customer service experience

This position will require a pre-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test.

Candidates for positions requiring a security clearance are required to be tested for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR 707.4 prior to an offer of employment being made. In addition, once employed, employees will become part of a random drug testing program and may also be tested in the event of any incident causing injury or causing damage to property, or if it is determined that there is a reasonable suspicion the employee is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This position will require a preemployment background check on the part of the Company and in order to receive a DOE security clearance, a background investigation by the Federal government. Subsequent Federal government reinvestigations may be required."
