The SCADA Technologist will provide secure and stable monitoring and control of the water/wastewater, electric and gas utilities to Operators across the Utilities Kingston service areas. They will collaborate with stakeholders to install, configure, maintain, secure and optimize all SCADA hardware, software and communication links and provide end user training and support where required.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Maintain secure and reliable monitoring and control of SCADA systems across water/wastewater, electric and gas utilities.
2. Troubleshoot SCADA systems to solve complex electrical and software related problems.
3. Provide support to utility operators to help troubleshoot non-SCADA related process failures.
4. Develop and commission SCADA processes for capital projects and end-of-life equipment.
5. Implement and maintain Cyber Security Framework in compliance with regulating bodies.
6. Configure and maintain historical servers to store data in compliance with the OEB and MOE guidelines and regulations.
7. Provide regular data updates to support regulatory reporting requirements.
8. Develop and maintain the SCADA network architecture for the utilities including the configuration and maintenance of network switches and routers.
9. Comply with all health and safety requirements, maintain a safe work environment, report hazards and promote a culture of safety in the workplace.
1. Expert ability to troubleshoot control systems, field devices and program PLCs
2. Expert ability to develop HMI applications
3. Advanced ability to interpret schematics, process control narratives and technical documentation
4. Advanced knowledge of programming languages
5. Advanced ability to configure and maintain network servers, networking devices and cyber security standards
6. Advanced ability to configure, maintain and query SQL databases
7. Intermediate AutoCAD skills
8. Intermediate MS Office skills
9. Intermediate knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements as it relates to individual, organizational and operational requirements
Qualifications:
1. Post-secondary diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electronic Engineering Technology
2. Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or working towards
3. 3+ years’ experience in automation and control design in an industrial environment and experience with communication systems including SCADA HMI Platforms and protocols
