This position works under the direct supervision of the Sawmill Production Supervisor. As the Sawmill Laborer you will be responsible for the sorting, cutting, and processing of raw logs into lumber and timber products of various sizes.
1) Performs any combination of duties in preparing logs for cutting into lumber and storing cut lumber in sawmill.
4) Rolls logs from deck onto log or carriage.
5) Examine logs for defects such as embedded pieces of iron or stone, decayed wood from splits, and removes defects.
6) Rides log carriage of head saw and adjusts position of logs on carriage to cut planks of required thickness.
7) Sorts and guides planks emerging from saw onto roller tables or conveyors for trimming edges.
9) Straightens edges of rough lumber using saw.
12) Sharpens and adjusts teeth of woodworking saws.
14) Represent the Company in an ethical and proper manner.
15) Perform all duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervision by consistently showing ability to recognize and deal with priorities.
16) Recognize and perform duties which need to be completed although not directly assigned.
17) Work well, and maintain cooperative working relationships, with the managers, employees, vendors, suppliers, and customers
18) Maintain the highest standards with respect to safety at all times, leading by example and ensuring the team, follows all policies, procedures, practices, and OSHA regulations.

21) Be dependable, report to work on time, and provide proper notification of whereabouts when absence from work is unavoidable.
22) Identify and assist in the troubleshooting of processes and equipment issues.
23) Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the equipment.
24) Perform all other duties as requested or assigned and as business operations and conditions require.
