This is a hands-on position supporting the day-to-day operations of a sawmill manufacturing environment as well as all related equipment, machines and other facility functions and departments. Employee’s time will be divided between both reoccurring maintenance activities and project-based activities to further improve facility and equipment
· Responsible for following procedures to ensure safety, quality and equipment uptime.
· Install, maintain and repair single and multi-stage pumps, motors, drives, bearings and pipe systems
· Replace bearings on equipment, remove and install gear boxes
· Fit pipes, conduct electrical repair, fabricate equipment
· Work on and troubleshoot 480v/220 volt single phase, 3phase, 120 volt, 24 volt controls, VFD controllers, overloads, contactors, circuit breakers, limit switches, conveyors, etc.
· Operate shop equipment and basic hand tools as needed, such as: band saw, mill, lath, drill press
· Keep equipment and work area clean, safe and organized
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand on concrete; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
· The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
· Must be able to wear various types of respirators.
· Must be safety minded, able to follow instructions and perform to physical requirements of the job including troubleshooting, sensors, motors, drives, cleanroom, extrusion, plc troubleshooting, electrical, automation, HVAC and cooling equipment.
· Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written directions.
· Must be ableto communicate with supervisor and coworkers.
· Must be able to communicate effectively via email and text
· Ambient temperature – temperatures can become warm in the summer months, occasional exposure to extreme cold, extreme heat and/ or humid conditions
· Loud, nosey environment subject to saw dust and other airborne particles
· Work attire should be jeans and sleeved shirts. No baggy, ripped or torn clothing and no jewelry. We supply the safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats.
· Safety toe boots area a must and will be supplied by the employee.
· Production machines create loud noises – ear protection must be used.
· Exposure to handling wood boards, gloves must be worn.
· Use of overhead equipment, hard hats are a must.
· Occasionally work in high, precarious places and confined spaces
