About This Job

Nordic Minesteel Technologies Inc. (NMT) is looking for a reliable and hardworking Sandblaster/General Labourer. This position involves preparing metal surfaces for finishing through sandblasting, as well as assisting with general shop duties including material handling, cleanup and support of fabricators and welders. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, physically fit, and comfortable in working in fast-paced industrial environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

•

Inspect, operate and maintain sandblast equipment safely and efficiently

•

Blasts surfaces of metal parts to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, dirt, etc. and to impart specified finish

•

Loads blast media into machine hopper

•

Masks specified areas of parts to protect from blasting

•

Assist in the prepping of parts prior to being painted

•

Manually directs nozzle and controls flow of blast over surfaces to achieve required result

•

Examines finished work to ensure conformance to specifications

•

Assist all production positions in operations

•

Assist in yard maintenance and clean up

•

Assist in loading and unloading trucks

•

Perform housekeeping and minor maintenance duties

•

Keep personal work area in a clean and tidy condition

•

Maintain a self-motivated, positive and outgoing attitude

•

Any other duties as required by your Supervisor

•

Access to reliable transportation to and from work

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

•

Previous experience with a metal fabricator is an asset

•

Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, changing environment

•

Ability to work outdoors in varying and potentially extreme weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold or inclement weather.

•

Good attention to detail and results oriented

•

Lifting up to 50 lbs

•

Physically capable of standing for extended periods of time and working in awkward positions
