Aftermarket Applications Engineer
Location: Ideally based within 30 miles of Portland, ME, but will consider qualified candidates outside of this area.
Employment Type: Full-time, with Benefits
Salary: $70K base salary with incentives. Total compensation for OTE is $85k+ with no cap on incentive earnings.
Travel: Travel will be rare and only as needed.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Applications Engineer to support technical sales efforts within Bachmann’s Aftermarket division.
Bachmann Industries manufactures dampers and expansion joints used worldwide in a diverse range of heavy industries including Power Generation, Petrochemical, Pulp and Paper, Cement, Mining, and Waste-to-Energy facilities.
This Aftermarket role supports our customers with sales of Spare Parts, Field Service, and Custom Solutions.
The ideal candidate will act as a trusted advisor to our customers with the goal of expanding sales opportunities, strengthening customer relationships, and achieving sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
Proposal Generation:
•Receive RFQ’s, prepare accurate cost estimates, and prepare technical proposals and quotations based on customer needs.
•Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers to ensure high customer satisfaction and retention.
Sales Development:
•Expand sales to existing Bachmann customers through proactive outreach.
•Expand sales to non-Bachmann customers that could use our Aftermarket Parts and Service solutions.
Collaboration and Communication:
•Collaborate with our internal teams to align on sales strategy, and obtain technical support resources as needed.
•Coordinate with sales agents and representatives to follow up on accounts and maximize opportunities.
Reporting and Metrics:
•Track and report sales activities, progress, and performance metrics using CRM tools and regular reporting structures.

Requirements:
Experience:
•2-5 years in industrial sales.
•Experience in steel fabrication a plus.
•Experience with international customers a plus.
Education:
•Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred but not required.
Skills & Knowledge:
•Experience with technical sales and customer service.
•Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
•Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand the function of various components and industrial equipment.
•Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
•Ability to establish material cost estimates for budgeting.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for developing cost estimates.
•Proficiency in CRM tools for tracking sales activities.
•Ability to work independently.
•Good understanding of ISO Quality Management systems.
