Purpose of the role:

The Safety/EHS Specialist is a permanent fulltime role that reports to the Safety/SHE manager and assists with planning, developing, administering and implementation of safety programs across Canada.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct and/or direct operational audits and assessments as required.

- Ensure policies and procedures are established, prepared, implemented, revised, and maintained to meet current and known future requirements.

- Provide leadership for developing and directing safety initiatives

- Travel up to 50% of the time to other company locations within Eastern Canada as required.

- Support the sites to ensure compliance with customer, corporate, governmental, and third-party safety, and environmental standards.

Qualifications

- A diploma in Health and Safety from an accredited college or university is a must.

- A bachelor's degree in a related field is considered an asset.

- Experience with ISO 14001 and 45001 would be considered an asset.

- Safety certification is considered an asset (e.g., CRSP, CRST, CMIOSH, CHSC, etc.)

- Awareness in client databases is considered an asset (Avetta, ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, etc.)

- Incident investigation training certification.

- Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE) training certification is considered an asset.

- Standard First Aid or higher certification.

- 3+ years experience as a safety professional.
