We are seeking a dedicated Safety Coordinator to join our manufacturing team and play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of all employees. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining compliance with safety regulations, preventing workplace accidents, and fostering a safety-first culture throughout our organization. This is a first shift position.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and identify potential workplace hazards
- Perform job safety analyses (JSAs) and comprehensive risk assessments
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local safety regulations
- Prepare for and manage regulatory inspections and audits
- Maintain knowledge of industry-specific safety standards including lockout/tagout and machine guarding
- Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs (PPE use, fire safety, equipment certification)
- Ensure all employees are informed and competent in safety procedures
- Maintain accurate training records and certifications
- Conduct site safety walks and safety committee participation
- Lead investigations into workplace accidents, injuries, and near-miss events
- Identify root causes and recommend effective preventive measures
- Report incidents to management and regulatory bodies as required
- Assist HR in managing workers' compensation claims
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety management systems
- Establish and maintain safety policies, procedures, and emergency response plans
- Track safety performance metrics and analyze trends for continuous improvement
- Manage PPE programs and coordinate emergency preparedness activities
- Provide technical expertise on safety issues and equipment safeguards
- Oversee ergonomics programs, material handling procedures, and chemical storage protocols
- Ensure machinery and equipment maintain proper safety standards
- Develop and manage safety KPIs
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, Safety Management, or related field
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in manufacturing safety with EHS experience
- Proven experience with incident investigations, risk assessments, and training delivery
- Experience with regulatory compliance audits and implementing safety programs
- OSHA 30-Hour or 10-Hour Certification
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
- EHS certifications strongly preferred
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) from BCSP (preferred)
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) from ABIH (preferred)
- Deep knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental health standards
- Proficiency with lockout/tagout procedures (LOTO), machine guarding standards, and confined space entry
- Experience with safety management software and EHS systems
- Strong documentation and report writing abilities
- Excellent communication and training delivery skills
- Leadership abilities with talent for influencing behavior and safety culture
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities
- Ability to remain calm and decisive during incidents or audits
- Exceptional attention to detail for hazard identification
- Ability to work effectively in diverse, multilingual environments
- Master's degree in Safety, Environmental Health, or Industrial Hygiene
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems)
- Experience in Lean manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) certification
- Lean Six Sigma certification
