The Safety Coordinator will help maintain high safety standards, playing a critical role in ensuring compliance with MSHA/OSHA regulations and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization, providing guidance to employees on best practices and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures at local, state, federal level and company policies; manage MSHA/OSHA reporting and recording requirement.
- Provide monthly safety performance updates to site leadership, covering audits, observations, near misses, and action item status for continuous improvement.
- Assist in incident investigations, identification, analysis and control of occupational hazards.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records, reports, and documentation in accordance with MSHA/OSHA and company standards.
- Serve as a liaison with MSHA inspectors and regulatory agencies during inspections & audits.
- Support the Company’s associated plant and terminal OSHA operations.

- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
- Stay up to date with industry best practices and regulatory changes.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations and compliance requirements
- Must be highly organized; ability to manage multiple projects, and provide accurate, agreed upon deliverables in a timely manner.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite, PDF, database systems, and other related software.
- Must be willing to attend training and seminars for continuing education and growth of the role as required.
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or related field.
- 2 years of relatable work experience; MSHA experience preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Strong on the job experience in a safety-related position, at a mining or heavy industrial facility, will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
This job operates 75% of the time in-plant including quarries, kilns, and production areas, and 25% of the time in an office environment. Will require occasional travel. Required to be on-call and work occasional hours on the off-shift during the annual maintenance outage.
- Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required.
- Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions.
- Walking, climbing stairs and occasional ladders, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, driving, and squatting to perform the essential functions of this position.
- Must have good hand/eye coordination and vision to safely fulfill all in-plant job requirements.
- Pass required background check, physical examination and drug screens.
