To perform the job of Polishing Operator successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function per the established Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure all parts meet or exceed quality expectations. The functions listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary.
· Polish rotors per written work instructions and per job router
· Ensure that coating thickness is within specification and meets all requirements prior to beginning the polishing process
· Identify specific abrasive belts to be utilized at their appropriate stages in the polishing process
· Identify proper measuring tools and measure readings accurately
· Work directly with quality department to identify and resolve any issues to ensure completed rotors are acceptable
· Sign job router as polishing activities are completed
· Operate polishing lathes, forklifts, and overhead cranes
· Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly work area
· Gain and utilize thorough knowledge of company history, culture, identity, and goals
· Responsible for observing all safety practices by ensuring all machine guards and other safety equipment or devices are in place and in good working order before and during operation
· Ensure all required personal protection equipment is used at all times
· Knowledge of thermal spray practices and techniques preferred
· Ability to read and comprehend written work instructions and procedures
