In this role, you act as a key partner in strengthening our safety and risk culture. You will work closely with managers, project leads, and HSEC & Human Rights teams to bring risk management strategies to life on the ground. Whether you're guiding a risk review, supporting compliance activities, or coaching teams in best practices, your focus is always on helping people stay safe and make informed decisions. With occasional site visits and a hands-on approach, you turn plans into action and data into insights that matter.
More specifically, you will be expected to:
- Facilitate risk reviews for sites and projects of varying sizes and support Reclamation, Site, and Project Managers in reviewing and updating risk registers based on risk type, frequency, and control measures;
- Support the development and maintenance of site risk registers;
- Monitor completion of risk mitigation actions and report progress;
- Visit sites to evaluate how effectively risks are controlled;
- Collect, analyze, and report HSEC & Human Rights data for trends and support the application process for exemptions or deviations;
- Provide coaching and training on SafeWork and risk processes;
- Maintain and update risk management systems and documentation;
- Track outcomes of audits, inspections, and investigations;
- Assist with the development of Management Plans, Risk Reviews, Life of Asset planning, procedures and related documents;
- Manage and maintain documents, document retention and filing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Health & Safety, Administration, or a related field. Postgraduate studies in Risk Management considered a strong asset;
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in health and safety or risk management, with at least 5 years in the mining sector or another high-risk industry;
- Proven experience facilitating risk assessments using recognized methodologies;
- Strong ability to identify hazards and evaluate risks across various operational settings;
- Solid analytical and reporting skills, with a focus on translating data into meaningful action;
- High level of organization and attention to detail;
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams;
- Known for a positive mindset and strong interpersonal skills that support relationship-building;
- Up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and methodologies in risk and safety management.
Travel:
You will be required to travel to the different sites approximately 30-40% of the time and work with colleagues located in different time zones on a regular basis.
Language
: Advanced proficiency in English (verbal and written) is mandatory. The knowledge of French is beneficial.
Location:
Corporate office in Toronto when not travelling to sites.
