Advisor – Safety& Risk Role
As the Advisor – Safety & Risk You will be responsible and accountable for supervising safety employees and ensuring that safety programs and projects are delivered according to Evolution Mining Red Lake Operation standards.
Roster: 5 days on/ 2 days off/ 4 days on/ 3 days off – 9.5 hour shifts

About our Operation
Our Red Lake Operation is located in an area where you will experience the best in Northern lifestyle, in the heart of a lake-studded, boreal forest region in Sunset Country. Red Lake is known for its natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and incredible Canadian fishing in the many freshwater lakes in the area. The Red Lake district is located 180 kilometers north of Dryden about 100 kilometers from the Manitoba border in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It spans 42,000 hectares and has produced over 29 million ounces of gold since 1949. Our Red Lake Operation includes underground mining and processing complexes in Balmertown and Cochenour, as well as the Bateman Project. As Evolution’s newest asset and our first in North America, we are excited by the opportunities here.
About the role
The Advisor – Safety & Risk role offers an exceptional opportunity to participate in accident investigations, produce and distribute appropriate documentation.
Key result areas in this role include:
Participation and deliverance of site safety improvement plans
Governance of incident investigations for site.
Review safety trends and come up with proactive strategies to mitigate incidents.
Conduct planned workplace inspections with supervisors on a scheduled basis.
Ensure safety team members are a visible presence in the field.
Prepare material for quarterly supervisor development meetings.
Attend group (corporate) meetings as required.
Prepare safety reports for distribution to site and group.
Provide expert safety advice across the RLO sites on proper reporting of accidents and incidents in keeping with Evolution standards
Provide support to the Occupational Health and Safety Committee
Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free.
Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.
Adhere to all relevant corporate and company policies, procedures, management plans and standard work instructions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
About you
As an Advisor – Safety & Risk, you will have a Secondary School Diploma. It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:
3 - 5 years’ experience working in the mining industry, including 3 years in a safety role may be considered
Excellent report-writing and documentation skills
Trained in Root Cause Analysis methods (ICAM) (an asset, training available)
Solid understanding of INX or equivalent safety reporting software system
Comprehensive knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants
Familiar with Industrial Hygiene practices and regulations
Familiar with mining process and underground environment
Knowledgeable in the accident investigation process
Maintain confidentiality in all company dealings
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with computer system, particularly strong in using INX and Microsoft PowerPoint program.
Excellent interpersonal skills and presenting in front of others.
Comfortable speaking in front of large groups
Able to coach and effectively manage performance of others.
Action and results oriented.
Excellent conflict management and resolution capabilities.
