The ideal candidate will bring strong technical versatility across automation, data integration, programming, and identity-based system administration, with experience in tools and technologies such as SQL, PowerShell, and Active Directory. A solid foundation in modern scripting or programming practices, the ability to work across multiple platforms, and an understanding of secure and reliable system operations is highly preferred.
Provides technical expertise concerning the accounting and benefits functions of Retirement Management. This includes the analysis and documentation of technical processes to enhance the accounting functions related to record keeping and calculation of retirement system funds. Participates in database design, identifies deficiencies, and recommends improvements to functions to further utilize state-of-the-art computer technology.
Determines functional models and data requirements necessary to support the business objectives of the TVA Retirement System Board. Analyzes and documents processes including but not limited to pension plan benefit calculations, internal record keeping of the pension funds, interaction with outside record keepers, actuaries, and auditors.
Identifies deficiencies and recommends improvements in the administrative procedures, statistical reporting, file maintenance, and reconciliation to further utilize available computer technology. Assists with automation proposals, cost estimates, and project schedules. Makes security plans and recommendations for safeguarding critical business data.
Serves as a technical liaison for other Retirement Management personnel for data processing requests (such as hardware recommendations and repair, security access, etc.)
Recommends or designs computer procedures to provide the department with needed data access through the use of desktop solutions. Provides access to all networked databases and maintains links to external databases as well.
Provides retirement counseling and/or communications, if needed, concerning incentives, reductions-in-force, or significant rule changes concerning benefits. Maintains existing functional procedures on a limited basis. Keeps supervisor informed at all times of ongoing progress as to levels of project completion and estimates of time required to complete tasks.
Education –Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Business Administration or a comprehensive knowledge of computerized financial applications.
Experience – At least 2 -5 years of experience with a pension or financial system.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — Knowledge of the TVARS pension systems, server administration, SQL Server database, Visual Basic or related programming language. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
