The Rental Technician is responsible for rental equipment delivery/pickup, set-up/teardown, customer satisfaction and equipment inspection, repair, and maintenance. Preparing and recording rental equipment and accessories delivered. They will deliver equipment with the Company’s rental trucks and trailers and inspect rental equipment when it returns ensuring all equipment and accessories are returned with no damage.
What You’ll Do – The Role (Responsibilities)
- Prepares rental equipment and accessories for delivery.
- Safely delivers equipment and accessories.
- Provide instruction on proper and safe use of rented goods.
- Tear down and pick up of rented goods and accessories, document on Company forms.
- Inspects rental equipment when picked up or returned to office ensuring everything is returned and identifies any damage or misuse.
- Prepares returned equipment and accessories for future rental.
- Repair and maintenance of rental equipment and accessories as instructed.
- Supports Shop Supervisor with misc. deliveries and pickups.
- Assist other drivers and technicians loading and unloading, to get in and out of the shop on a timely basis.
- Upon return of trailers, cables, ATS’s, transformers and load bank(s) etc. inspect for any damage. Report any deficiencies in writing to the Shop Supervisor.
- Waste oil and coolant areas are to be kept clean and organized. Assist in emptying the old oil, glycol and ensuring old filters are placed into their respective containers. If the old oil/glycol tanks are full, contact Shop Supervisor for emptying.
- Maintain strong customer communication and always inform the customer upon arrival and departure from site.
- Promote the Company and its products to new and existing customers.
- Take a pro-active approach to resolving any customer complaints or disputes, continuing to promote a high standard of customer service.
- Work with others and the Company to achieve higher standards, better relationships with customers, and exceed Company objectives.
- Complete and submit all documentation accurately, completely, and legibly during or immediately following the work assigned.
- You will be using a Company vehicle that must be operated in keeping with the Company Policy. This vehicle is your responsibility when in your care. Do not overload the vehicle and follow all Ministry of Transportation rules and regulations.
- Ensure that rental trucks are well maintained. Advise the Shop Supervisor of any defective operation or service that is required.
- Participate in other assigned in-housework duties which may include for example, additional warehouse cleanup, assisting with inventory etc.
- Other tasks and responsibilities may be required from time to time consistent with the position of Driver – Generator Technician and the job description and duties set out above.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Forklift certification or equivalent experience.
- Valid driver's G license – clean driving record.
- Ability to drive large trucks and tow equipment.
- Follow all Company Health and Safety Policies and Guidelines and Privacy Policies.
- Present a professional image to the Company’s customers and suppliers maintaining the highest ethical standard of conduct.
- Always wear proper PPE such as “green patch” work boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, face shields/ masks and recommend to the supervisor any other job-related safety/ protective equipment required. Recommend to management any other job-related safety/protective equipment required.
- In the case of a power outage or declared State of Emergency by any level of Government in Ontario, be available for work.
Participate in regular H&S training and pass related competency testing. Example training:
- After hours On-Call – Required. Flexibility for emergency calls needed.
- Ability to work irregular hours / overtime.
- Manual lifting and moving of parts and material is required. Must be capable of safely lifting maximum limit as set by the MOL.
