Position Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Regulatory Specialist to support the company's compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing the midstream natural gas industry. This role is integral to ensuring operational compliance with environmental, safety, and energy transportation regulations, as well as assisting with the preparation and submission of filings to regulatory agencies such as FERC, PHMSA, EPA, and various state agencies.
Key Responsibilities
•Monitor, interpret, and communicate regulatory requirements affecting the midstream natural gas sector, including FERC, PHMSA, EPA, and state-specific regulations.
•Prepare, coordinate, and submit regulatory filings, permits, and reports in compliance with applicable laws and timelines.
•Support internal teams by providing regulatory guidance for construction, maintenance, and operation of pipelines and related facilities.
•Assist in responding to data requests and audits from regulatory agencies.
•Track regulatory developments, proposed rules, and industry trends; assess their potential impact on company operations.
•Maintain documentation and regulatory compliance records in an organized and auditable manner.
•Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Engineering, Operations, and Environmental teams.
•Participate in internal reviews and audits to ensure ongoing compliance.
•Facilitate interactions with external regulatory and industry entities to support compliance and advocacy efforts.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field.
•3+ years of experience in regulatory affairs, permitting, or compliance within the energy or natural gas sector; midstream experience preferred.
•Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks including FERC, PHMSA (49 CFR Part 192/195 & 18 CFR Part 157), and applicable state-level requirements.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity and accuracy.
•Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with regulatory tracking tools or databases is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
•Must have thorough understanding of FERC regulatory requirements and hands-on experience with associated compliance filings.
•Experience with environmental permitting (e.g., air, water, land use) related to pipeline and facility projects.
•Familiarity with project management practices and tools.
•Prior interaction with regulatory agencies or experience representing companies in regulatory proceedings.
