Job Summary
The Regulatory Compliance Specialist performs functions and duties within cross-functional teams associated with the analysis and response to station regulatory activities and serves as site lead in all aspects of regulatory compliance functions.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
- Function as Cognizant Regulatory Compliance Individual and support Inspection Response Team Personnel in the conduct of NRC Inspection activities
- Working with other station staff to prepare technical and compliance-related time critical correspondence to the NRC requiring approval of the Station Vice President such as Operator Licensing submittals, Licensee Event Reports and responses to NRC Inspection Report Notices of Violation etc.
- Support Company Nuclear Review Board information gathering for assessment.
- Participate in the Industry working groups to include occasional travel to related conferences/meetings
- Perform self-assessment and benchmarking activities as assigned
- Support Emergency Response routine activities such as facility readiness and upkeep, drill controller duties etc.
- Perform duties associated with processing procedures to include Reviews, Procedure Preparer and Independent Qualified Reviewer roles
- Perform duties as it related to 50.59 qualifications for Technical Specification basis updates and USAR revisions.
- Perform duties as records custodian for quality records produced and procured by regulatory compliance.
- Participate and provide support to Regulatory Compliance and Performance Improvement peer teams
- Routinely interfaces with the NRC Resident Inspectors. Ensures that the NRC Inspectors are getting the information they need to implement their inspection program. Helps the Operations, Engineering, Maintenance Departments, and other support organizations, respond to the NRC requests. Arranges for subject matter expert discussions to clarify issues of regulatory interest. Briefs management on issues of regulatory significance.
- Provides a similar role in coordinating and performing activities to aid in supporting the preparation and conduct of routine NRC Regional inspections and coordinating regulatory agency visits and NRC Public meetings.
- Prepares and submits regulatory required periodic and non-periodic reports.
- Principal author for operator license renewal applications and any necessary changes to operator licenses due to changes in medical conditions. Also, prepares operator licensing examination correspondence.
- Prepares Licensee Event Reports and Event Notifications. Participates in cause investigations in support of these activities
- Qualified in the 50.59 and Independent Qualified Reviewer process in order to update required procedures based on changes in regulation.
- Serving as the station compliance contact for 10 CFR 72 (dry cask/ISFSI) activities and maintaining the station’s 10 CFR 72.212 reports.- Bachelor of science degree in Engineering or technical discipline OR Associate degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field +11 years related work experience OR Certified educational experience equivalent to an Associates degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field + 11 years related work
- Hold or having previously held a Senior Reactor Operator's (SRO) or Reactor Operator's (RO) license preferred.
- Prior licensing and/or regulatory compliance experience preferred.
- Possessing plant-specific knowledge, such as technical specifications and Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (USFAR), is highly preferred.
- Strong team/interpersonal skills to aid in the resolution of regulatory issues with multiple site organizations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and other business-unit specific computer applications.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines.
- Advanced technical evaluations.
- Independently assess and resolve potential conditions adverse to quality.
Final pay grade will be determined based on applicant's experience and qualifications
