As a valuable member of Keyera’s Regulatory Authorizations Group, the Regulatory Authorizations Specialist will be based in the Calgary office and will liaise with internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies to support the management and delivery of regulatory authorizations for Keyera’s operational assets and projects.
- Prepare and submit regulatory applications for projects that include facilities, pipelines, and/or wells to support new capital projects and existing operational regulatory approvals, with an emphasis on Directive 56, Pipeline Rules, Environment Protection & Enhancement Act (EPEA), Water Act and Municipal permitting.
- Work with a large variety of internal clients including Business Development, Engineering, Construction, Environment, Sustainability, Legal, and Operations Teams to advise and assist on regulatory deliverables required to meet business objectives.
- Manage consultants as required, providing support during the data gathering process and the review of noise, emissions, and environmental field work reports that will support regulatory applications.
- Advise on regulatory requirements and associated timelines and risks in the context of business strategy.
- Liaise with the appropriate regulatory agencies to support their review during the regulatory approval process, supplemental information requests and audits of regulatory applications.
- Act as an agent of change striving for continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of authorizations that include approvals, licenses, variances/exemptions, permits and notifications, and the preparation of internal procedures.
- Capable of navigating complex issues and providing reasonable solutions to support regulatory objectives for projects and operational changes.
- High degree of adaptability and comfort working within a dynamic environment to drive results to meet business needs.
- Ability to keep up to date with regulatory changes that will impact Keyera’s business to properly react and plan to the ever-changing policy climate in the Province and Canada.
The successful candidate will be well-organized, energetic, and detail oriented with the following qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in regulatory applications and authorizations.
- Bachelor’s in Engineering, Science and/or Environment.
- Professional certification under APEGA, ASET, AIA or ECO Canada is preferable.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communicational skills.
- Experience in midstream operations is an asset.
- Ability to take initiative to work independently while still exercising sound judgement, collaboration and teamwork.
