Summary
The Regional Operations Manager will be responsible for building and managing a team of truck drivers and field technicians, as well as leading CNG delivery and operations, facilities management, operational logistics and equipment maintenance in the region. This position will report directly to the General Manager - Canada. The Regional Operations Manager will provide technical assurance for the efficient and optimum running of platforms and related facilities. The role will require a customer focused individual with an ability to grow a loyal customer base through superior service.
Schedule
- This position will hold normal business hours but always ready to support 24-hour operations.
- Occasional travel will be required.
- Manage all CNG deliveries and operations in Mount Forest and surrounding regions.
- Hire and manage a qualified team of Field Technicians and Drivers.
- Oversee regional compressor station as well as fleet operations in the area to meet safety and performance targets.
- Ensure equipment maintenance intervals are followed and equipment maintained in good working order.
- Ensure that internal policies and government safety and regulatory standards (TSSA, TC/DOT regulations) are met.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the entire company, while looking for ways to ensure and improve our HSE programs and practices, such as incident reporting, behavioral based observations, and hazard Id’s.
- Strong technical ability with respect to operation and management of logistics by coordinating natural gas trailer deliveries.
- Identify and execute improvement initiatives for material collection and processing operations to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Participates in day-to-day hands-on operations activities with a keen field presence.
- Develop a strong relationship with key accounts to maintain a high level of service and client loyalty.
- Initiate and execute strategic growth initiatives by working closely with the Business Development team.
- Achieve volume and margin sales targets for compressed natural gas to commercial and industrial markets.
- Other special projects as assigned.
- Monitor and control operating costs, including labor and operating costs.
- Ensure compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Minimum 3rd Class Operating Engineer certification.
- 5+ years’ strong technical expertise in the maintenance and operation of natural gas piping and distribution equipment.- Previous management experience is required.
- Relevant compression and natural gas experience is an asset.
- Preference given to applicants who have experience working with trucking logistics, contracts and dispatch, along with a strong understanding of TC/DOT Regulations.
- Proficient in the use of computer programs.
- Strong technical knowledge of operations management (experience overseeing facilities, logistics, equipment and fleet).
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and an ability to deal tactfully with a wide range of personalities.
- Hold valid safety certifications – First Aid, CPR certificates, other required certifications.
- As a minimum, hold a valid driver’s license with preference for applicants who hold a CDL license with Hazmat endorsement.
