DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Warehouse and Reconditioning Services, the Reconditioning Services Work Lead, will oversee the daily operations of the Reconditioning Services team. This role is responsible for acting as the technical expert in the refurbishment of distribution equipment and tools, supporting both internal operations and external clients. The position is accountable for work order management / co-ordination, resource utilization, safety, staff coaching, training, accuracy and consistency related to distribution equipment refurbishment and salvage activities.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
•Coordinate a team of professional Engineering Technologists and Technicians, ensuring internal and external client delivery of service requests are met, in addition to providing technical guidance and coaching.
•Provide coaching, guidance and technical expertise for FortisAlberta and external clients.
•Assist the Supervisor in the onboarding and in-person training of new Technicians and Technologists as required.
•Ensure specific distribution equipment is accepted and modified to agreed-to standards and available for deployment.
•Support regulatory relationships with Environment Canada and industry groups including companies in the fields of oil recycling, PCB waste disposal and oil sales/purchases.
•Ensure procedures and standards for the refurbishment and salvage of distribution equipment and the maintenance of tools for field distribution crews are implemented and maintained.
•Work with suppliers to ensure appropriate parts and services necessary for the refurbishment and salvage of FortisAlberta distribution equipment and repair of field distribution tools are available and maintained.
•Act as a technical expert to support the field metering and distribution equipment team, network operations, standards, inventory control and external clients and suppliers. This is to include auditing, training and technical support in accordance with federal / provincial regulations and FortisAlberta policies and processes.
•Ensure non-conformances and reconditioning incidents are reported and corrective actions are implemented.
•Provide input into budgetary / reporting processes as requested by the management team.
•Special projects and other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
•High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to quality in all work performed.
•Proven ability to lead initiatives, analyze and solve problems with a positive attitude. This involves working proactively with little direction to resolve issues and evaluate possible solutions.
•Solid analytical skills required to identify and resolve issues, including recommendations and implementation.
•Excellent organizational skills, with ability to manage a wide variety of tasks simultaneously.
•Effective team building and interpersonal skills will be required for work order management/ coordination, resource utilization, safety, staff coaching and training.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Leadership skills or leadership training would be an asset.
•Ability to operate warehouse equipment and machinery, including the ability to work with power hand tools, such as electric drills.
•Demonstrated computer skills, with a thorough knowledge of SAP, MS Office and Excel.
•Thorough understanding of the refurbishment and salvage of distribution equipment and the use of applicable test and maintenance equipment and software.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•A Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Telecommunications Engineering or Engineering Technology, or a Journeyman Electrician, Power Systems Electrician, or Instrumentation & Control Technician certificate plus a minimum of six (6) years of experience installing and repairing electrical instrumentation and equipment is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•A Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) Professional Technologist (PTech) designation would be considered an asset.
•Additional trade certifications, certificates, diplomas, or courses in a related discipline would be considered an asset.
•Experience in a leadership role within FortisAlberta would be considered an asset.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
•Participation in work outside of regular scheduled hours of work may be required.
•Due to geographic and training considerations, some travel including overnight stays is required.
•This has been identified as a safety-sensitive position. All successful candidates will be subject to pre-employment testing.
•A Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License is required.
