Summary
The Quality Coordinator is responsible for overseeing both the Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) functions to ensure compliance with API Q1, and to support our transition toward API Q2 certification. Acting as the site-level quality system owner, this individual will work cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, and QHSE leadership to drive continuous improvement, ensure regulatory compliance, and uphold the highest standards of product and process quality in our manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
•Ensure API Q1 Compliance: Oversee adherence to API Q1 requirements within the manufacturing facility; maintain and improve relevant processes, documentation, and controls
•Support API Q2 Transition: Collaborate with Quality and Operations teams to align with API Q2 requirements, facilitating the journey toward certification
•Non-Conformance Management: Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) by documenting issues, investigating root causes, driving corrective/preventive actions, and ensuring timely closure
•Internal Audit Coordination: Plan, conduct, and report on internal quality audits, gathering evidence and tracking findings to closure in accordance with defined procedures
•External Audit Preparation: Coordinate and prepare for external audits (API, customer, and certification bodies), ensuring site readiness, effective communication, and prompt resolution of findings
•Documentation and Procedures: Develop, review, and revise quality procedures, work instructions, and forms; collaborate with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Engineering, QHSE) to keep documentation current and effective
•Inspection and Testing Oversight: Oversee or execute inspection and testing activities, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, internal procedures, and regulatory requirements
•Calibration Program Management: Maintain and track calibration programs for all tools and measurement equipment, ensuring accuracy, proper documentation, and compliance with relevant standards
•Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement: Lead or participate in structured problem-solving efforts (e.g., 5 Why, fishbone diagrams, 8D) to identify root causes and drive sustainable process improvements
•Quality Metrics and Reporting: Generate quality KPIs and reports (e.g., non-conformance trends, audit results), analyze data to identify improvement opportunities, and communicate findings to stakeholders
•Collaboration with Manufacturing/Engineering: Work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve quality issues, enhance product conformance, and implement best practices
•Certification Renewal and Readiness: Assist the QHSE Director in preparing for API certification renewals, including collecting required documentation, training staff, and closing gaps identified in previous audits
•Quality Training and Awareness: Conduct training sessions and support continuous education on quality procedures, standards, and best practices, fostering a proactive quality culture across the facility
•Cross-Functional Support: Provide quality expertise during production processes, vendor/supplier evaluations, and new product introductions, ensuring quality requirements are met at each stage
Qualifications
•Diploma or Degree in Quality, Engineering, or related technical field
•2-4 years’ experience in a manufacturing quality role, preferably within oil and gas or industrial services
•Familiarity with API Q1 (required), API Q2 (preferred), ISO 9001, and root cause analysis methods
•Excellent communication skills, strong analytical abilities, and a passion for continuous improvement
