PV Designer
We are seeking a PV Designer with 2-3 years of experience to support our Commercial team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and assisting in the execution of solar projects while ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory standards. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including subcontractors and local distribution companies, to deliver efficient and high-quality solar energy solutions.
Responsibilities
1. Renewable System Design & Engineering
•Conduct system feasibility studies to optimize system design.
•Develop solar system models and layouts for building permit based on site photos and customer requirements.
•Prepare electrical (include but not limit to single line diagram) and structural drawings, system specifications, and design documentation.
•Provide technical support to the sales and project management teams, helping to clarify system capabilities and constraints.
•Stay informed on emerging solar technologies, inverters, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and grid interconnection policies.
2. Project Coordination
•Read and understand proposal, contract, change order and equivalent documents, understand the right and responsible of the customer and the company
•Communicate with the customer, sales support team and project managers to ensure the PV design meet the customer’s requirement
•Coordinate with structural and electrical engineers to ensure PV design meet city, code and utility requirement
•Provide support for managers to manage outsourcing team by assign, monitor and review their work.
•Utilize detail-oriented skill to organize and prioritize daily work and special assignment.
Experience and Knowledge
•Bachelor’s degree in engineering, design or similar discipline preferred
•Hands-on experience in commercial and industrial solar projects
•Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp) for solar layouts
•Strong attention to details
•Self-motivation and self-learning
•Willing and ability to communicate effectively with partners at all levels
•Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) and grid interconnection is an asset.
•Knowledge in any Building Code and/or any Electrical Safety Code is an asset
•Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze technical data
•Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
•Flexibility in re-prioritizing work due to unplanned events and/or urgent requests for work
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
