Solar Construction Project Manager – AMS Renewable Energy

Role Overview

The Construction Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the construction of AMS projects, ensuring successful execution within defined safety, quality, budget, and schedule constraints. This role requires close coordination with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and other key stakeholders to deliver high-quality renewable energy projects on time and within budget.


Main Responsibilities

Ensure project adherence to safety, quality, schedule, and budget while bringing projects to completion within established timelines.
Understand the project development process, including regulatory, permitting, and local utility requirements.
Develop project scope, budget, and timelines in collaboration with internal teams.
Coordinate with internal teams across Engineering, Procurement, and Construction functions.
Review and interpret engineering drawings to identify constructability issues.
Assist in managing construction contracts, including agreements with contractors and consultants.
Collaborate with contractors, equipment suppliers, municipalities, and regulatory authorities.
Conduct regular site visits to ensure projects are built according to issued IFC packages and AMS Renewable Energy’s quality standards.
Track and report project performance using appropriate tools and methodologies.
Manage risk mitigation strategies and escalate issues as needed.
Maintain strong relationships with landowners, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
Oversee project budgetary objectives, adjusting financial constraints based on analysis and approvals.
Ensure comprehensive project documentation is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
Lead project handover and closeout activities, ensuring seamless transition to operations teams.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and oversight to assigned team members.
FOR NYC:
Handle change orders.
Coordinate ACP5 inspections.
Manage DOB Now registration accounts.
Submit DOB permit applications
Coordinate with utility providers
Process and manage state incentive applications.
Schedule installations and service work
Procure materials for new installations
Perform QA reviews of installed systems and repairs
Manage inventory and ensure stock of all supplies
Schedule and coordinate inspections.
Manage PTO (Permission to Operate) procedures.
Oversee NYSERDA closeout procedures.
Manage DOB closeout procedures.


Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of project management experience in the construction industry.
Minimum 3 years of experience managing solar PV projects (rooftop projects 500kW+ and ground-mount projects 1MW+ preferred but not required).
PMP certification is desirable but not required.
Experience with both office-based project management and field construction oversight preferred.
Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, Sitetracker, and Smartsheets, google drive - platform.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and identify scope discrepancies.
Proficiency in project scheduling software.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and negotiation skills with vendors and contractors.
Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with external vendors
Summarize, manage, and solve issues and report to senior management.
Prioritize tasks and juggle competing deadlines effectively.
Understand of all aspects of the project, including procurement, engineering, technical competence, and schedule to achieve project success.
Coordinate and handle, under pressure, multiple tasks with a high degree of independence and professional judgment to meet or beat project key performance indicators.
Demonstrate ability to read, interpret, and manage construction documents, specifications, bids, and recommend changes or additions.


Travel

25% – 50% travel required.


Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, including on construction sites.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Ability to work in varied weather conditions on project sites as needed.
