We have an opportunity at our Red Deer branch! The Pump Shop Technician role is hands-on role focuses on the repair, inspection, and servicing of Bottom Hole Pumps (BHPs) and Artificial Lift Systems (ALS) to ensure high-quality customer service in the energy sector. The technician will be responsible for disassembling pumps, conducting corrosion and wear inspections, performing air tests, and completing pump reports using internal tracking systems. Additional duties include handling customer interactions, transporting equipment, maintaining inventory and work orders, and supporting sales and artificial lift operations.
- Previous hands-on experience and knowledge with BHPs, ALS, including wellhead packages and pump components, including reading technical documents, contract, blueprints, and manuals is required.
- Previous experience in the oil field and projects supply, or fabrication industries is an asset.
- Previous experience working in a warehouse is an asset.
- Forklift certification is an asset.
- Post-secondary/technical certificate would be an asset.
- Experience and knowledge with working with Microsoft Office applications and SAP.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and tools used in pump repair and maintenance.
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
- Skill in documenting repairs and communicating effectively with staff and management.
- Ability/availability to work weekends and be rotational on-call schedule to meet customer need
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and Clean Driver’s Abstract
- Ability to complete and pass pre-employment testing (Drug, alcohol, and fitness to work)
- Tear down and repair of Bottom Hole Pumps (BHP), inspection of BHP’S for corrosion wear and pitting, air testing BHP's, pump out procedures used in the repair of BHP's.
- Break down pumps in need of repair, using electric drills, friction wrenches, buffers, steamers, appropriate solvents and other equipment as needed.
- Complete pump reports and entry of pump reports on Pump Tracking System.
- Finalize pump reports and generate sales documents.
- Handle customer calls, pick-up and delivery of BHP’S while following established guidelines for transportation.
- Ensure the quality of products and services the customer receives meets or exceeds their requirements.
- Ensure materials, supplies, and equipment are accounted for, using inventory procedures.
- Maintain work orders and any other relevant paperwork.
- Demonstrate competence and compliance with DNOW’s processes, procedures, safety regulations and system requirements.
- Handle sales and materials for all artificial lift requirements.
