Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
•Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Surveying and Mapping or related field.
•Minimum 5 years of related work experience balanced between office and field.
•Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities for the position.
Licenses, Registration, and Certifications
•Registration as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Colorado.
•Must be able to possess and maintain a valid Class ‘R’ Colorado driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
Position Summary
Under general supervision, develop and manage the project scope of work for capital, distribution, and other projects and expectations of clients. Ensure that all safety procedures are followed. Serve as the primary project technical expert and assist with technical problem solutions. Coordinate and maintain liaison with other sections, disciplines, and utilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Serve as the technical staff specialist on assigned projects in providing guidance in the application of advanced Surveying, Geomatics, and Geodetic Surveying.
•Supervise survey personnel in direct responsible charge of obtaining and adjusting survey data for design base maps for distribution and/or capital projects.
•Supervise survey personnel in direct responsible charge of the establishment and retracing of property boundaries, easements, public land survey system (PLSS) section corners taken from an analysis and interpretation of legal descriptions, plats, notes, field, and parole evidence.
•Schedule and manage assigned workload in the preparation of survey deliverables and field surveys.
•Research, organize, analyze, and interpret legal descriptions, plans, and notes associated with assigned work.
•Prepare research documents needed by field crews to perform field surveys.
•Prepare and or assist in the preparation of contracts and or task orders for professional services.
•Support survey personnel performing full range office and field assignments and review technical ability of subordinates.
•Train or recommend training to technicians in land surveying, geodetic surveying, mathematical calculations, and analysis or survey data.
•Demonstrate a mastery of survey and geomatics software and applications such as Trimble Business Center, Trimble Real Works, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Civil 3D, and others as needed.
•Coordinate and maintain liaison with other sections, divisions, and utilities on surveying matters.
•Ensure the maintenance of safety standards in all areas of operation.
•Perform other related survey work as assigned.
Additionally, the Project Surveyor will apply advanced Surveying, and Geomatics principles, practices, and methods in support of the section’s overall strategic goals and objectives. Responsible for managing survey projects as assigned. Work with customers to develop project scope of work and deliverables. Provide oversite, quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), and professional guidance of all field and office survey activities associated with assigned projects.
