Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Project Managerto oversee high-value capital projects within the natural gas utility space. This role will manage multiple projects—ranging from $1MM to $5MM—through the full project lifecycle, adhering to established
Stage Gateand
project lifecycleprocesses. The Engineering Project Manager will coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and subject matter experts to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective gas facility upgrades and replacements across Colorado.
This position is based out of
Denver (Lipan location)and requires the use of
PPEin field environments such as compressor stations, regulator stations, and other non-pipeline gas systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple capital gas facility projects (typically 5–10 concurrently) including cradle replacements, relocations, and regulator station upgrades.
- Execute projects through the Stage Gate process—ensuring proper scope definition, budget adherence, scheduling, and documentation.
- Coordinate across internal teams (engineering, construction, operations, supply chain, finance) and external vendors to meet project deliverables.
- Oversee project financials and manage purchase orders, quotes, and scopes of work with established vendors (approx. 20% of time).
- Ensure all projects comply with regulated utility standards, safety requirements, and asset management practices.
- Track progress, identify risks, and proactively drive timelines to maintain project execution goals.
- Engage stakeholders and provide regular updates on milestones, budgets, and project status.
- Participate in field visits to active sites (travel within Colorado only).
- 5–7 years of experience in project management, preferably within gas utilities, oil/gas, or energy industries.
- Proven experience managing capital projects ($1MM–$5MM) from initiation through closeout.
- Strong understanding of project lifecycle, budgeting/financials, scheduling, and scope management.
- Experience working in or around regulated utility environments and fixed assets.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to coordinate large cross-functional teams and manage vendor relationships.
- Proficient in project tracking and schedule management tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or related field).
- PMP certification or equivalent project management training.
- Experience with gas facilities such as regulator stations, odorization systems, valve assemblies, and mainline projects.
- Familiarity with midstream operations or gas processing environments (experience with companies like Tallgrass, Kinder Morgan, CIG, Phillips 66, Black Hills Energy, or Atmos is a plus).
