We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Project Management Center of Expertise Department. Under the general direction of

the Enterprise Project Manager, responsible for the project management and administrative activities on assigned key strategic and

complex projects, or portions of large complex projects, such as Advanced Metering Infrastructure and Grid Modernization, as they

apply to the overall planning, design, construction and commissioning activities. Will provide project management expertise to

project participants.


Responsibilities:

Provide leadership, direction and mentorship to project stakeholders in the management of a project's estimate & schedule,

execution strategies, human resource requirements, risk assessments, contract management.

Monitor & control, scope, schedule & budget for the project and report on project performance and status throughout the


various stages of the project.

Responsible for establishing, monitoring, reporting and progressing all project scheduling and budgeting; including their


impact on resources of the Team.

Responsible for coordination between the Project management team, project services department and project financial

support department in various areas of project controls, including estimating, scheduling, risk and financials.

May initiate, coordinate and direct the preparation of construction and supply tender documents, evaluations and


recommendations for contract award.

Manage, coordinate and review contractor work and performance, and may engage and direct Consultants to provide project


services.

Ensure adequate performance information is provided to monitor, control and communicate critical issues and deadlines and

manage accountability with all Project Participants and stakeholders.

Prepare capital project reports as needed for a variety of stakeholders, such as; variance explanations, outlook forecasts,

year-end forecasts, project reports and summaries, memos, and lessons learned including issues arising from environmental,

safety, licensing, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.

Lead multi-disciplinary project teams including organizing and chairing Project Management meetings on a regular basis

drawing upon a sound understanding of the principles associated with the design, procurement and construction and

facilitating discussions between project participants, both internal and external, to proactively manage project issues and risks

and seek out opportunities for efficiencies.

Responsible for multidisciplinary coordination and ensuring the final product meets technical requirements including assisting

stakeholders with the assessment of complex/unconventional deviations to the technical scopes of work, project estimates

and schedules, safety, and environmental requirements, and make recommendations on how to deal with their impacts.

Lead, and provide input to, the development of CIJ (Capital Investment Justification) and CIJ Addendums including scope,


schedule, risk and cost estimates.

Provide project management expertise to support project participants regarding interdisciplinary engineering, financial, and

resource issues, and in consultation with stakeholders, establish project safety and environmental plans.

May supervise and mentor project staff including, staff officers, project specialists and Engineers.


Qualifications:

Graduate in Engineering from a University of recognized standing, with a minimum of seven years related experience.

Professional member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (or willingness and ability to attain within a


specified amount of time).

Contract management experience in the design and construction of major infrastructure projects, including contract

preparation, development and preparation of claims, change management, project controls, and risk mitigation and analysis.

Good working knowledge of various project control functions to solicit actual cost information and understanding of various

contractual clauses for claim analysis or developing a mitigation strategy.

Experience in analysis of cost estimates and schedules to facilitate review of project related impacts.
Experience and knowledge of contract administration and claim mitigation/analyzing functions on a major infrastructure


project.

Ability to perform in a coordinating role effectively and diplomatically, often under difficult project circumstances.
Proven ability to negotiate agreements of a contractual nature and find win-win outcomes under difficult circumstances.
Proven analytical capacity for assessing complex situations and problems, and an ability to translate ideas/concepts into


process systems.

Aptitude for reviewing and interpreting complex legal agreements and policies.
Demonstrated organizational skills, high degree of initiative and the ability to work independently, while functioning in a team


environment within the organizational setting.

Possess a thorough knowledge of Corporate Policies, procedures and regulations.
Demonstrated high degree of initiative and ability to maintain harmonious working relationships and interact effectively with

others at all levels, both inside and outside the Corporation and in cross-cultural situations.

Ability to plan, organize and control activities of various schedule-critical concurrent work assignments within the area of


responsibility with a minimum of supervision.

Must obtain and maintain a current Personal Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba


Hydro policy P513.


Notes/Comments

May be required to work at other locations within the province, and where transportation between these sites may be by small

aircraft.


Salary Range

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $51.34-$70.34 Hourly,

$98,380.88-$134,784.78 Annually.
