Act as the owner's advocate in all project phases, from planning and design to construction and closeout. Responsible for technical and engineering support for area specific assignments. The role will include coordination of cross-organizational and cross-discipline inputs and outputs for the design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover of installed systems, structures, and components for the deployment of an enrichment plant in Piketon Ohio. Responsible for coordinating with the EPC and other contractors and vendors and provide oversight and guidance. People in this position will become SMEs in specific systems, facilities, and technologies.
Responsible for conceptual and detailed design package development and reviews. Support construction work packages development, review, and approval steps to support field execution. Coordinate change management during execution phase including, but not limited to, constructability issues, risk mitigation actions, test plan identified corrections. Successful position candidates should implement safety first and program compliant approaches to successfully support the design, procurement, fabrication, testing, commissioning, and turnover for plant operation program elements for long-term plant operations.
- As directed by EPC management, this position will support and coordinate with Centrus staff, EPC supply chain manufacturers/vendors, EPC contractors, and Centrus augmented staff by direct involvement of specified areas for the construction of new facilities, modification of existing facilities. The efforts will include preparation of equipment specifications, conceptual and detailed certified-for-construction (CFC) designs to fabricate/construct, inspect, test, commission, and operate new plant infrastructure.
- Periodic travel to various vendor locations is anticipated
- Support generation of specific design criteria and system design requirements (SRDs)
- Support identification and flow-down of configuration management criteria for identified component level systems, structures, components (SSC’s) as designated for items categorized as Items Relied on For Safety (IROFS)
- Support development of acceptable fabrication, site acceptance testing (SAT), facility acceptance testing (FAT), and equipment installation specifications and testing aspects for specialized equipment following NQA-1 quality program as specified
- Support development and implementation of Integrated System Test Plans (ISTPs) to demonstrate equipment meets design reliability and operational requirements
- Establish preventive maintenance actions for the optimal service life of specialized equipment
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and progress, ensuring adherence to contractual requirements.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, conflicts, and potential delays.
- Review and track project budgets, ensuring cost control and financial efficiency.
- Evaluate contractor invoices, change orders, and financial reports for accuracy and compliance.
- Support the development, review/comment, and approval cycles of engineering documentation including, but not limited to, system requirements documents (SRDs), engineering evaluations (EE), equivalency substitutions evaluation (ESE), design analysis and calculations (DAC)s, Change Evaluations (CE), Job Field Instructions (JFI), Post Maintenance Testing (PMT)s, Preventive Maintenance determinations, and design verification test plans (TP)s
- Perform field walkdowns within industrial work areas before, during, and after construction activities including wearing of specified PPE i.e., steel toed shoes, hardhat, safety glasses, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
We'd Love to Hear from Candidates With:
- Bachelor of science degree in engineering from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. BS degrees in Architecture or Construction Management will also be considered.
- 5-7 years’ engineering experience, preferably in a construction environment
- Be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” level security clearance
- Currently possess a DOE “Q” level security clearance or DOD clearance
- Project management/engineer experience preferred.
- Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, and or Chemical engineering discipline preferred
- Effective in multiple communication modes with various vendors, suppliers, and internal team members
- Possess effective oral and written communication skills
