Reporting to the Manager, Utility Design, the Project Engineer is responsible for designing and reviewing underground and overhead electrical distribution and streetlighting systems (4kV–44kV).
- Design underground and overhead electrical distribution infrastructure (4kV – 44kV system voltages)
- Design streetlighting systems
- Perform required calculations (e.g. voltage drop, pulling tension, pole loading etc.)
- Conduct site checks and assessments
- Prepare and submit design packages for approval
- Coordinate designs and maintain schedules with customers, municipalities, utilities, and various other stakeholders
- Conduct technical reviews for peers and junior team members
- Interpret and apply working knowledge of applicable codes and standards
- Keep up to date with advances in design tools and industry standards
- Other duties as required
- P. Eng. status with PEO (Professional Engineers Ontario) or ability to apply for P. Eng status by Summer 2026
- 5+ years of experience with utility design in Ontario- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A few qualifications that would help you succeed:
- Experience with PLS-CADD and SpidaCALC
- Valid driver’s license and driver’s abstract in good standing
- Willingness to contribute to a culture of belonging
- Ability to learn and adapt to changing environments
