This role entails planning, directing, and coordinating activities related to continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing engineering projects from initial research and design to fabrication, installation, and troubleshooting, with the objective of enhancing production efficiency and increasing manufacturing profitability.
Additionally, the engineer will maintain detailed records, prepare comprehensive reports, and provide accurate cost estimates and completion timelines for current and future projects. There may also be opportunities to design and construct new automated equipment, upgrade existing machinery, and operate advanced computer-aided design (CAD) systems.
Responsibilities
•Coordinate and manage all phases of engineering projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
•Develop and maintain project schedules using tools such as Primavera.
•Create and review schematics and blueprints for accuracy and feasibility.
•Collaborate with contractors and subcontractors to facilitate project execution.
•Utilize Civil 3D for design purposes and project planning.
•Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and address any issues that arise.
•Manage project documentation using Prolog to ensure all records are up-to-date.
•Implement effective time management strategies to optimize project workflows.
•Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide updates on project status.
Qualifications include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•Project management – Maintain timelines, ensure project cost targets are meet, interface with suppliers, customers and internal departments.
•Implements capital projects to improve manufacturing. Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction, facilities acquisition, and equipment commissioning.
•Manages equipment commissioning by testing mechanical and electrical functionality against design specifications. This includes production efficiency, safety, quality, electronic communications, lean activities, maintenance, and documentation.
•Ensures a successful handoff of new equipment to the manufacturing group.
•Assumes full process engineering responsibilities after new equipment is launched. This also includes initiating and completing process improvement projects.
•New technology – Proactively investigate new technology within the industry that would help achieve organizational goals.
•Quality support – Participate in formal 8D process and helps ensure corrective actions are practical.
•Involved in the development of safety procedures, work instructions, and safety improvements throughout the facility.
•Establishes specific objectives related to process improvements that reduce cost, improve reliability, reduce process variation, and improve quality.
•Participates in the development of long-term plans related to profit growth and expansion of the company's products and capabilities.
•Coordinates technical liaison services between the production department, maintenance, quality, design, and tooling related to newly developed techniques or practices related to process improvements.
•Monitors investigation of customer complaints regarding quality, tolerance, specifications, and delivered condition of products.
•Will work closely with product design group on new products/redesigning existing products including tool design, product design simulations.
•Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to help understand unplanned equipment downtime, implement predictive maintenance solutions and performance optimization.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Engineering Degree from a four-year college or university; or a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
