Keywest has a requirement for a junior Project Engineer-in-training (EIT), whose primary role will be to work closely with all Keywest disciplines and clients.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Support a variety of oil and gas projects for multiple clients
- Completing/coordinating project deliverables such as Design Basis Memorandums (DBM’s); cost estimates; project schedules; engineered drawing development, checking and sign-off; equipment sizing, specifications, and datasheets; equipment and material requests for quotes, evaluation and award; project cost management; quality control and checking
- Assist Intermediate and Senior Project Engineers in their various tasks.
- Look for various opportunities to improve day-to-day project deliverables by innovating new methods of completing tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
- Technical coordination with various engineering disciplines at Keywest, holding project review meetings, updating status of engineering deliverables
- Cross-training between various disciplines, including possible rotations through specific engineering disciplines where a concentrated amount of time is spent learning the various capabilities of that discipline
- Ongoing communications, maintaining contact with external sources such as equipment vendors and clientele of Keywest
- Assist with environmental and regulatory applications and submissions and stay informed of the latest directives and requirements
- Participate in HAZOP (Hazards and Operability Study) and PHAs (Process Hazards Analysis) and learn to facilitate future HAZOPs and PHAs
- Review/squad check vendor drawings
- Maintain and grow a working knowledge of the applicable design codes and standards including CSA Z662-07, ASME B31.3, etc.
- Assist with overall project execution and delivery
- Assist with business development proposals and studies as required.
- Occasional travel to site for information gathering, as-building, P&ID walkdowns, startup activities or troubleshooting tasks
- Assist in developing and standardizing templates and commonly issued project documents/calculations to improve overall efficiency of the company’s operations
The qualified candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, and will possess the following:
- 0 to 6 years of engineering experience
- Registered engineer-in-training (E.I.T.) with APEGA
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal,
- Proficient computer, organizational and technical skills,
- Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects at the same time,
- Capable of working independently,
- Meets deadlines in a fast-paced environment,
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization,
- Excellent problem-solving skills,
- Industry awareness pertaining to current trends and events,
- Confident, Enthusiastic and have a Positive Attitude.
