Keywest has a requirement for an Intermediate Project Engineer whose primary role will be to support a variety of oil and gas projects for multiple clients. The role will include design development, project scope development, equipment evaluation and selection, project coordination and management, and ensuring design compliance with safety, quality, regulatory and technical standards.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Support the Lead Project Engineer with the following:
- Obtain weekly updates via weekly discipline and project team meetings.
- Ensure that project support is available to the disciplines.
- Ongoing communication to provide information to the disciplines for completion of their deliverables.
- Work with Discipline Managers to ensure adequate manpower has been assigned for timely completion of project deliverables.
- Develop project-specific engineering practices, standards, and templates as required.
- Cross-training between various disciplines.
Quality and consistency of the engineering disciplines deliverables within a dedicated project area boundary:
- Review and ensure all required deliverables for the various project phases; Pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Engineering are included in the project deliverables list.
- Ensure that all project documents and drawings conform to scope and the defined standards.
- Check that disciplines are completing their own quality control checks.
- Approve and sign-off on key project drawings, such as BFDs (Block Flow Diagrams), PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams), and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).
- Check that specific Client standards and templates are used consistently.
- Check that learnings from previous projects are applied on a go-forward basis to improve future projects.
Ensure Vendor Packages are consistent with technical project requirements:
- Check, and Approve SOW, RFQ's, and RFP’s
- Ensure RFQ's and RFP's are consistent with project requirements and specifications.
- Squad check key vendor drawings received and ensure disciplines are completing their squad checks as per the Squad Check Procedure, ensure all documentation is received as per the SDDR (Supplier Document & Data Register).
Participate/Lead both internal and client project design review meetings :
- IFD P&ID’s
- IFA P&ID’s
- IFC P&ID’s
- 30/60/90% Model Reviews
- Shutdown Key and Shutdown Philosophy
- Process Hazard Analysis (PHA’s)
- Hazards and Operability Studies (HAZOP’s)
- Other project specific meetings as required
Ongoing communication with the Project Managers (both internally at Keywest and externally with our clients) to ensure project engineering deliverable statuses are kept current with stakeholders.
Maintain and grow a working knowledge of the applicable design codes and standards including CSA Z662-07, ASME B31.3, etc.
Occasional travel to site for information gathering, as-building, P&ID walkdowns, startup activities or troubleshooting tasks.
Assist in developing and standardizing templates and commonly issued project documents/calculations to improve overall efficiency of the company’s operations.
The qualified candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, is a registered engineer with APEGA, and will possess the following:
- 6 to 12 years engineering experience
- Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal,
- Strong computer, organizational and technical skills,
- Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects at the same time,
- Capable of working independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment,
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization,
- Strong problem-solving skills,
- Industry awareness pertaining to current trends and events,
- Must be Confident, Enthusiastic and have a Positive Attitude.
