The Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for managing project controls functions for a large Canadian electrical utility. This role involves ensuring the successful planning, execution, and completion of projects related to the construction, maintenance, and upgrade of electrical infrastructure. The Project Controls Specialist will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards.
· Project Planning: Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
· Monitoring and Reporting: Track project progress, identify potential issues, and provide regular updates to senior management. Prepare and present detailed reports on project status.
· Cost Control: Monitor project expenditures, ensure cost-effective use of resources, and manage project budgets.
· Risk Management: Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project continuity.
· Compliance: Ensure all project activities comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements, including the Canadian Electrical Code and other relevant guidelines.
· Continuous Improvement: Implement best practices in project controls and management to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
· Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in project controls, preferably within the electrical utility industry.
· Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project), and familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code.
· Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
· Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions.
· Travel: Some travel may be required to various project sites within Canada.
· Hours: Full-time, with occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines
