About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Act as a subject matter expert on creating educational resources that facilitate learning and skill development within organizations,
- Responsible for designing, creating, and evaluating training materials that meet the learning needs of employees.
- Uphold OHSA regulations and Alamos Gold Safety Procedures and Policies
- Conducting Needs Analysis: Understanding the specific skills and knowledge gaps within the organization to tailor training materials effectively; design tailored curriculum, develop training materials, facilitate training sessions.
- Content Development: Creating various types of training materials, such as digital courses, videos, printed manuals, and job aids, that are engaging and relevant to the learners.
- Collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): Working closely with SMEs to ensure the accuracy and relevance of the content being developed.
- Implementing Feedback Mechanisms: Collecting and analyzing feedback from learners to continuously improve training materials and delivery methods
- Evaluating Existing Materials: Assessing current training resources to identify areas for improvement and ensuring that they align with organizational goals.
- Regularly Review and Update Content: Ensure that training materials remain current and effective by regularly reviewing and revising them based on feedback and changing organizational needs.
- Leverage Technology: Use modern tools and platforms to streamline the development process and enhance the delivery of training materials, making them more accessible and engaging for learners.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to safety through work habits, one on one discussions, and workplace behaviors.
- Be highly skilled in the area they will be instructing.
- Prepare lesson plans and outline course materials to be used.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Health & Safety Superintendent.
- Experience providing training using a variety of formats; written training manuals, video, slide decks, in-person training and blended learning approaches.
- Experience providing safety-related training (i.e., Working at Heights, Confined Space, etc.)
- “Train the Trainer” accreditation.
- Provide Mobile Equipment training to team members as required.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience developing Training packages.
- Self-starter who can anticipate needs and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, growing work environment.
- Excellent inter-personal skills together with an ability to facilitate commitment to a cooperative team effort.
- Good communication skills, both orally and written with both internal and external contacts and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required.
Position is based on the Alamos Gold Mine operations working on a defined 7/7 or 4/3 rotation schedule. Willingness and ability to work extra hours and on call when required. Flights are available from Sudbury, Rouyn and Toronto.
