Summary:
The Production Tooling & Logistics Coordinator is responsible for supporting tooling purchasing and tool designs for new and existing jobs. Your primary responsibility is to ensure tooling availability to support production needs while simultaneously ordering tooling on a JIT basis, in the smallest affordable quantities while keeping tooling inventory at a minimum. You are additionally responsible for managing LocRite, Tool Crib Room, MRO items, along with other tooling. This includes proactively working to drive efficiencies and cost savings improvements for new and existing tooling.
Essential Duties:
Tooling Purchasing
•LocRite: Conducts weekly inventory and maintains perpetual inventory. Run reports on the LocRite daily to know when to order tools. Receives, unpacks and stores incoming tools and equipment and orders stock to replenish inventories daily. Recommends changes accordingly. Recommend returning or scrapping unused tools.
•Manages / documents tool room inventories. Continue to clean and organize the tool rooms.
•MRO: Review and identify key MRO items (collets, cams, gears, etc.) for each department. Track and manage components.
•Review high use items: Review reports, identify high cost and use items. Identify potential changes in layout and tooling (type, design, etc.)
•Develop plan for resharpening tools and other cost savings plans.
•Work closely with internal staff to improve cost, quality and delivery performance.
•Work closely with Maintenance Department to schedule any technical support required to ensure equipment is running at peak efficiency.
•Coordinate with outside support as necessary on all facilities and utility maintenance (i.e., compressors and air make-up units).
•Coordinating with outside vendors to ensure correct type of quantity of oils and coolants to run operation.
•Provide support and training at the direction of Operations Management.
•Develop departmental goals, initiatives and meaningful metrics to effectively manage and monitor all aspects of warehousing, logistics, freight cost containment programs and inventory management.
•Develop and execute a plan to consolidate raw material, WIP, and finished goods’ storage to ensure effective inventory management.
•Actively manage all day-to-day shipping & receiving activities, personnel, and inventory accuracy (cycle counting, annual, etc).
•Plan and schedule department functions to ensure prompt and accurate delivery of products meeting customer expectations and requirements through efficient utilization of personnel and facilities.
•Manage department spending to KPI and budgeted levels, analyze and report on variances, and develop corrective action plans as needed.
•Manage preventative maintenance programs for department equipment.
Candidate Requirements:
Ø High school diploma or equivalent.
Ø Strong record keeping skills with attention to detail.
Ø Knowledge of machining principles – quality, layouts, tooling, etc.
Ø Knowledge of tooling.
Ø Ability to use a computer and typical Microsoft software.
Ø Willingness to learn SolidWorks and other technical software.
Ø Ability to lead a team.
Ø Experience with Global Shop (ERP) a plus.
