Location:

ASARCO Ray mining operation, a 250,000 TPD hard rock open pit copper mine located 64 miles southeastbetween Phoenix and 70 miles northeast Tucson, Arizona.

We are looking for motivated students with a strong interest in the mining industry. Our internship program is 10 weeks long, in which you will receive important industry training and get involved in meaningful real-world projects like planning a program, designing a process, or implementing technology. The culmination of your program will include an opportunity to present your work to management.

Position: Process Control Engineer Intern will be assisting the L-SXEW Department

Duties:

•

Program Tankhouse PLC to support new remote rack and connections to substation breakers.

•

Prepare tag names and descriptions for substation breaker data to be saved in Rockwell PI historian database.

•

Modify Distributed Control System (DCS) computer displays to show substation breaker status and operational data.

•

Evaluate assigned field problems (real or theoretical) and report back as required.

•

Meet everyday safety goals.

•

Various other projects as assigned.

Requirements: Education Requirements:

•

Candidate must be enrolled in an accredited school or university and currently pursuing a degree in, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other related degrees.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements:

•

Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.

•

Time management skills in performing multiple projects with various team members.

•

Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present findings and make recommendations.

•

Proficient with Microsoft Office products

Experience Required: No previous experience required.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:

Frequent sitting, standing, walking and some exposure to dust, noise, and extreme temperatures (not for all majors)

Duration: Requires at least a ten-week internship commitment between mid-May and mid-August.
