Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Intern will support the analysis, planning, control, and operation of the manufacturing process and process equipment. The Magnesia Specialties division is the leading producer of high purity magnesium oxide, magnesium hydroxide and dolomitic lime products, which are used in a variety of environmental, industrial, chemical, and specialty applications.
Key Responsibilities:
•Must be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated
•Will take an active role in the company’s safety initiatives
•Assist in conducting efficiency studies on brine heaters, rotary kilns, and heat exchangers
•Support the scoping and oversight of small projects, including directing contractors as needed
•Contribute to writing and updating operational manuals for improved clarity and context
•Collect and analyze data for the cathodic protection program
•Assist in organizing and inputting process data into the historian system
•Research and gather information on dust collectors for environmental compliance and optimization
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering
•High-level verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills
•Ability to use Auto CAD LT, MS Applications, Asana, other project management applications
•Must be a self-motivated, strong work ethic individual that is willing to work with minimal supervision
•Capable of working in an office or shop environment where sitting, standing, kneeling, or bending for long periods of time may be required. May be exposed to working from heights and a plant environment which may include dust.
•Ability to wear PPE while in the Plant (Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Shoes, Hardhats, Earplugs, High-Viz Vest or Shirts, other as required)
