The Process Control Manager leads and provides technical direction for the Process Control Group (PCG) composed of Process Control Engineers and Controls Systems Specialists. This position will report directly to the Refining Technical Services Director.

Key Responsibilities:* Provide Effective Leadership – Set clear expectations for process control group members. Have meaningful discussions with employees regarding their performance and career, provide coaching and recognition on a regular basis. Support MPC's culture by providing a clear vision of team direction and how each employee contributes to the vision. Provide opportunities that promote employee development. Support changes in the organization and business.
Manage Group Activities – Develop and implement work processes that ensure reliable and safe process control activities for the refinery. Review work product and ensure it follows applicable standards, templates, and best practices. Conduct periodic group meetings to facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices.
Manage Group Resources – Balance individual workloads and prioritize individual assignments. Provide resources for temporary assignments, assess staffing requirements, and participate in the hiring process. Ensure department budget compliance.
Support Refinery and Area Team Objectives – Act as the group liaison with other departments and ensure that the PCG is aligned with Area Team objectives. Provide process control resources to turnarounds and major engineering projects as necessary. Support refinery programs and initiatives. Develop process control scope for refinery turnarounds.
Ensure Control Systems Excellence – Participate in the Controls Advisory Group (CAG). Maintain the process control system life cycle plan. Initiate capital projects necessary to prevent system obsolescence. Evaluate and select process control vendors and contractors who can provide support to the refinery control systems and process control projects. Maintain a control system monitoring program to ensure system reliability and effectiveness of control.

Education and Experience:* Strong leadership and organization skills required.

B.S. in Chemical Engineering preferred, but candidates with other degrees who have demonstrated strong leadership skills may also be considered.
Minimum 5 years of experience in process engineering and/or process control engineering positions in refining industry required.
Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and Advanced Process Control (APC) preferred. This position will oversee the groups that maintain the following refinery process control systems: Honeywell Experion, Fieldbus, Aspen Dynamic Matrix Control (DMC), Honeywell Profit Suite, Varec Fuels Manager, Triconex.
