We are seeking an experienced Principal Engineer with an Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) license to lead the design, development, and execution of solar energy and energy storage projects. This position requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, project management, and renewable energy technologies. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the solar and energy storage sectors, a passion for sustainable energy solutions, and the ability to mentor and guide a team of engineers. This position is, primarily, an office-based role.
Scope of Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
Project Leadership:
•Lead the design and implementation of solar and energy storage projects from conception through completion.
•Mentor and train junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
•Hold the engineering team, including third-party providers, accountable for timely and quality completion of assigned tasks.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, construction teams, and business development.
•Foster strong relationships with internal clients, ensuring system design and project delivery meet or exceed expectations.
•Strategically manage contracting, schedule oversight, design review, and implementation in collaboration with third-party engineers.
•Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
•Delegate targeted support from the engineering team to project management and development staff to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Design and Engineering:
•Oversee detailed electrical design calculations and analyses for solar systems and energy storage systems.
•Provide careful review of design and engineering deliverables from internal stakeholders and external engineering vendors.
•Develop and review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
•Stay current with advancements in solar technology, energy storage systems, and electrical engineering practices.
•Evaluate and implement new technologies and methodologies that enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
•Assist in developing engineering design specifications and scopes of work.
•Participate in equipment procurement process and make recommendations.
•Make recommendations to optimize project economics.
Regulatory Compliance:
•Ensure all designs meet local, state, and federal electrical codes and regulations, as well as industry best practices.
•Liaise with regulatory agencies, utilities, and other stakeholders to obtain necessary permits and approvals.

Background and Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
•Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on solar energy and energy storage systems.
•High level understanding of the solar/energy storage design and construction process.
•Background in utility scale interconnection process.
