Job Summary
The Principal Reliability Engineer will work in collaboration with the Reliability Manager, Engineering Manager and Maintenance Manager in developing the reliability strategy and program. The role is also responsible for partnering with the maintenance team to execute asset reliability strategy and management programs to improve availability, uptime, and overall equipment effectiveness. Where applicable, the reliability engineer should review capital projects to ensure that new designs match the reliability expectations of the asset.
Location/Travel Information
This position will be based at the Freeport LNG Headquarters in Houston, TX with frequent travel to the Freeport LNG Liquification Facility (Quintana, TX) and Pre-Treatment Facility (Freeport, TX). This position requires the incumbent to hold a valid, unexpired driver license.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
•Responsible for influencing and driving execution of the site reliability strategy and for preventive and predictive maintenance program and processes
•Develops and maintains KPIs to demonstrate health of systems and equipment. Develops dashboards to effectively communicate these KPIs
•Audits gaps to potential against KPI objectives
•Writes reports and delivers presentations to communicate health of systems and equipment, highlighting reliability threats for timely resolution
•Drives root cause analysis and correction to eliminate equipment reliability problems
•Leads implementation and maintenance of site equipment criticality analysis.
•Monitors, reviews, and improves existing asset maintenance practices for effectiveness and adherence to established industry or company best practices
•Drives continuous improvement in maintenance practices making data-driven decisions including use of quantitative metrics and most current CMMS data
•Participates in the development and improvement of reliability SOPs and work instructions to support the program
•Partners with functional groups and the planners/schedulers to develop the scope and schedules for all equipment shutdowns
•Responsible review and modification of shutdown plans on site dynamics, equipment issues, and production schedules
•Ensures clear and timely communication to sites functional groups on all shutdown issues
•Provides technical support for plant equipment and system troubleshooting
•Leads significant equipment repair initiatives, support Capital projects, and assigned process improvements
•Ensures that reliability program is executed in compliance with requirements of OSHA's PSM regulations
•Consults asset management development strategies to ensure activities conform to Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP)
•Satisfies all Corporate Quality Requirements and ISO9001 Quality Management System
•Practices Responsible Care 14001 through active participation in the Responsible Care Management System and adhere to the Guiding Principles of Responsible Care 14001
•Develops strategic partnerships with contractors and suppliers. Evaluates contractor proposals.
•Applies and develops internal standards, specifications, and approved vendor lists. Ensures incorporation of industry best practices.
•Serves as the site focal point and subject matter expert for GE Vernova (Meridium) Asset Performance Management (APM) software (or equivalent), ensuring it is properly configured, delivering measurable value, and effectively utilized. Provides training and support to enhance user proficiency and maximize software benefits.
Education, Certification, and Experience
Minimum Education Required: Bachelor of Science in Engineering
Minimum Experience Required: 15+ years’ of experience in the reliability function within an operating industrial facility.
Competencies
•Strong MS-Excel, MS-Word and database skills.
•Deep experience with SAP and GE Vernova APM (or equivalent)
•Extensive Process Industry equipment knowledge and experience.
•Clear and concise communication skills - verbal and written.
•Working knowledge of OSHA PSM standards.
•An acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment.
•Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines, industries, and governmental agencies.
•Able to work with a culturally diverse group of technical individuals whose skills cover the range required to engineer, operate, and maintain the LNG terminal and Liquefaction production facilities.
•Organized, planning skills, able to manage multiple activities and programs in timely fashion and with a high degree of accuracy, able to meet work deadlines.
•Exceptional troubleshooting skills and analytical skills.
